This new mod aims to remaster Final Fantasy VII in HD without going overboard

Final Fantasy VII | Satsuki Yatoshi Mod ‘

Final Fantasy VII will never go out of style.

Even if the remaster didn’t happen! Even if somehow the remaster doesn’t have a real ending due to a freak accident. People will always try to bring back the original classic as it was a formative JRPG for a lot of people. Like it Chrono Trigger therefore it is one of the largest “gateway JRPGs” in history.

That’s partly why so many potential modders are on it even now. Take this Satsuki Yatoshi Mod for example. This mod outfit calls itself the “most accurate modern take on the PC version” and uses deep learning AI techniques to get it really right.

The mod is billed as a “cleaner, more detailed” version than previous “HD mods”, scaling the game up with AI. Interestingly, they don’t want to become “too large-scale”. No: they don’t want to have an “overly sharp or overshadow effect” so that it feels consistent and still true to the original.

You can have a good look at the comparison between the Steam / PC version and the mod below. These conservationists are doing the lord’s job!
