New Falcon and the Winter Soldier TV Spot confirms TV rating

More Marvel Studios action will debut on Disney + next month with the premiere of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which will be an action-packed buddy comedy that focuses on Captain America’s closest friends who butt heads and save the world. And because the series is closer to the quintessential Marvel Cinematic Universe action than fans are currently seeing WandaVision, it makes sense that it will have an average rating to account for the violence and humor typically found in a Marvel movie. And apparently that’s exactly what we’ll get.

A new TV spot for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier reveals that the Disney + series will get TV-14 LV, good for the language and violence common in Marvel shows. Watch the 1 minute promo below:

Judging by the comments from the cast and crew, it sounds like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will be denser in tone Captain America: The Winter Soldier than any other Marvel project since that movie was released. While the series will harness the natural chemistry between protagonists Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, it will also rely heavily on spy craft.

“We haven’t lost that sense of security and espionage,” Mackie said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “It still feels like you’re in a Philip K. Dick novel [or] a movie by Tom Clancy. But at the same time, it’s Sebastian and I, and we’re idiots, so you get more of us to be ourselves. ‘

Lead writer Malcom Spellman echoed those feelings. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to inherit characters like Sam and Bucky and take them on a brand new adventure.

“There’s real chemistry out there,” added Spellman. “Imagine writing the first part of a buddy-cop series, knowing exactly what the rhythm and taste are with the two characters before you start.”

The series will likely reveal who will be the next Captain America after the events of Avengers: EndgameSpellman added that this would be a significant event in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as for fans everywhere.

“The idea of a black man becoming Captain America just felt like a huge moment and a huge opportunity,” said Spellman.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will premiere on Disney + on Friday, March 19.
