It’s Instagram “Idol”!
Wyatt Pike released his first song on the social media platform less than a week after he quit “American Idol,” a shocking move when you consider that he was named in the top 12.
Pike, a self-proclaimed 20-year-old “boy” from Park City, Utah, released the original song “Friday Nights” Monday, just hours before the game show airs on ABC.
“As promised, here’s a video of my ‘Friday Nights’ tune,” he wrote. “I enjoyed filming this for you yesterday, I hope you enjoy! ‘Friday Nights’ is available on all streaming platforms! “
Representatives for Pike and “American Idol” did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.
Fans seem to love the acoustic guitar heavy song, calling it ‘talented’ and sharing heart emojis.
The release of the new song comes after host Ryan Seacrest delivered the ambiguous news that Pike would no longer participate in the show.
“Before we get to the results, I have to tell you that finalist Wyatt Pike is not in the competition,” said Seacrest, 46,. “He had to drop out – but we wish him all the best, okay?”
A spokesman for “American Idol” confirmed to The Post last week that Pike had left the show for “personal reasons,” but an insider claimed that “Wyatt could not continue.”
However, Pike doubled down on Instagram, parroting what reps said was his motive for leaving the show.
“I had to leave the @ AmericanIdol contest for personal reasons, but I’m so grateful to be able to play music for the rest of my life,” Pike posted on Instagram on Wednesday. “Fellow participants – miss you all, good luck!”
The mysterious early exit came on the heels of the young performer’s show-stopping moment when Pike wowed the judging panel with his confident rendition of the Kings of Leon’s 2008 hit ‘Use Somebody’.
Lionel Richie, 71, said Pike “had a style on stage that we love to watch” and predicted he was on the way to “something big.” Katy Perry, 36, said he “had a little bit of a corner in this match [because] you are an authentic singer-writer. “
After his departure, Pike shared a photo of his Utah hometown with fans. “Something to feel this through: at home,” he wrote. “Grateful for the roller coaster I’m on today.”
