WellMed will reopen COVID-19 vaccination hotline on Wednesday to fulfill 30,000 first-dose appointments

SAN ANTONIO – According to health officials, the WellMed COVID-19 vaccination reservation hotline will reopen this week for 30,000 first-dose appointments.

The hotline is used for residents to schedule COVID-19 vaccine appointments at the Elvira Cisneros Senior Community Activity Center and the Alicia Trevino Lopez Senior One-Stop Center.

The hotline will open again on Wednesday 24 February at 8 am.

The first dose appointments are administered on the following dates:

  • Thursday – Saturday (February 25-27)

  • Next week Monday-Friday (March 1-5)

The telephone number for the hotline is 833-968-1745, and operators will accept from February 24 from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm and every day until all reservations are made.

Those who wish to receive their COVID-19 vaccine at these two locations should schedule their appointment by phone. No walk-ins are accepted, according to health officials.

Residents struggling to reach the operators are urged to keep calling and to remain persistent as the hotline is likely to have high call volume.

If the phone lines are congested, WellMed says you will hear one of the following two messages:

  • On a cell phone: “The line you are trying to reach is out of service.”

  • On a landline: “All circuits are occupied. Try again later. “

If you are disconnected after the recorded greeting, officials say this also means all operators are on a call. If the call doesn’t get through at all, then it could be a problem with your phone service provider, according to WellMed.

Currently, health professionals and anyone over the age of 65 or 16 and older with chronic health conditions are eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine.
