New footage of the US Capitol attack, recorded Jan. 6, was presented during the second day of the impeachment trial against Donald Trump taking place in the Senate.
The House of Representatives prosecutors showed a series of shocking videos during the second impeachment facing the former president, these are images never before shown to the public of the events perpetrated by an angry mob that forcibly entered the Senate after Trump had incited violence to prevent Joe Biden’s victory from being ratified.
The images published by the CSPAN network show just how close the insurgents were to lawmakers and the members of their teams as they broke into the legislative building.
The clips show the violence of the attackers from within the complex. In one, it can be heard when one of the security agents approaches Senator Mitt Romney and tells him he must be safe. In another video, protesters hear outside protesters calling for Mike Pence to be “hanged” for refusing to prevent Congress from certifying Biden’s victory.
