Trump started his series of tweets by reiterating his baseless claims that “massive corruption took place in the 2020 election, giving us far more votes than it takes to win all Swing States.”

The president specifically noted a Georgia assent decree that he said was “ unconstitutional, ” which he said made both the two senate games and his own loss in the Peach State as president-elect. The assent decree refers to an agreement reached in March by Democratic and Republican government officials offered voters the opportunity to correct ballots that contained an alleged discrepancy between their signature as it appears on their ballot paper and a signature that election officials have on file.

Trump and his allies have argued in multiple unsuccessful lawsuits that the assent decision was illegal because the decision did not involve state lawmakers. However, like The New York Times reported, several groups have pointed out Supreme Court rulings allow lawmakers to delegate their authority to other government officials.

Kemp rejected Trump’s comments, telling reporters that his top priorities were to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and to re-elect Perdue and Loeffler.

‘All these other things – there’s a constitutional and legal process going on, and I feel very comfortable letting that process go ahead. But that horse has left the barn in Georgia and is now going to Washington, ”Kemp said of the presidential election.

“The next vote will be there, not here,” he continued. “So people have to be focused on the vote that’s going on here, and that’s in the early vote now and it will be Tuesday.”
