ISMAILIA (Egypt) (Reuters) – Shipping traffic in the Suez Canal slowed on Tuesday when oil tanker M / T Rumford appeared to be experiencing problems in the south of the canal, according to shipping websites MarineTraffic and TankerTrackers.

A trade source said the channel notified companies that the M / T Rumford had engine problems in the channel and that it had sent tugs Tim Hope and Mosaed 3 to the rescue.

TankersTracker said on Twitter that the ship had run into difficulties, but is finally heading north again.

The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) told Reuters the problem had only lasted about 10 minutes and was “resolved”.
