A GILLER
Tobias Fünke really has to listen to himself when he talks. But he came up with a great catchphrase, so we’ll let it slide.
You guessed it: the new speed running craze Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (which is still a hugely successful game with over 33 million sales to its name) is called “Blue Yourself”. You have to try to hit yourself with a blue shell as soon as possible, and there is fierce competition going on in the Mario Kart community.
To accomplish this task, you must acquire boost items, strategically lean back so that your chances of a blue scale are high, then boost quickly and make yourself “blue” with the blue scale. There is a chance, but considering how fast the runs are, it’s not surprising. The whole process takes about 40 seconds or less.
YouTuber Skilloz (below) recently beat GsFlint’s world record, which was set at 39.56 seconds. Skilloz managed to sneak under with quite a chunk of extra time, clocking in at 37.89 seconds with Baby Peach.
I think one of the most virtuous aspects of the speedrunning community is when people come up with new parameters and stick to them as a group. The “All Dog Treasures” comes in Breath of the wilderness are proof of that.
