The Epic Games Store leans even more on exclusives and there’s a Spring Showcase this week

Expect many more Epic Store exclusive offers through at least 2022

The Epic Games Store will be getting even more exclusive offers over the next two years, and later this week it will stream a Spring Showcase event with game announcements (and host a corresponding sale).

That first part is crucial and lays the foundation for Epic’s ongoing strategy. In a statement to PC Gamer, a representative said there will be more exclusive offers in the store for the next two years than we’ve published so far.

The list contains titles we know, like this year’s Darkest Dungeon 2, and probably many not. There is also the issue of genDesign, PlayDead, and Remedy publishing agreements with Epic Games.

Later this week, we’re going to see “a curated collection of new announcements, gameplay and expanded looks presented by the developers who make the games we all love” in a live-streamed event. The Epic Games Store Spring Showcase will air on Twitch at 11:00 am Pacific on Thursday February 11.

At this point, there’s no telling what Epic might have in store: established IPs, fresh indies, and everything in between. As long as these deals are on offer and the terms are attractive, we will see many more promising games on the Epic Store for at least a year after launch.

It really feels like this plan of attack could go uninterrupted for a long time to come, long time.
