Specialized UK headquarters gutted by fire

Specialized’s British headquarters was destroyed by fire last night with a four-hour effort by the London Fire Brigade to get the blaze under control.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called to the six on Saturday at 6:36 PM, where they deployed 12 fire engines and about 80 firefighters to deal with the fire at the Chessington business park. The LFB found no one injured in the fire, but a warehouse was destroyed.

Kirsty Woodcock, Head of Marketing for Specialized in the UK, told Cycling Weekly: “Last night we received word that a fire had hit our UK headquarters in Chessington. Fortunately, no one was injured, but unfortunately the fire had a devastating effect on our offices. There will be some changes to certain business operations in the near future, but our warehouse is elsewhere and riders need not worry. “

Neil Guyett, the commander of the LFB station who attended the scene, said: “Firefighters arrived to find a well-developed fire and worked hard to get it under control in what was a protracted incident. Thick smoke came from the business park. ‘

The cause of the fire is unknown, but the LFB Fire Investigation Unit and the Metropolitan Police Service are now investigating what could have caused the fire.
