“Given that the nominee to lead the Ministry of Education has not targeted or directed any actions or projects towards the education of the country in his resume, the Puerto Rico Senate recommends the rejection of attorney Jesús González Cruz,” reads the legislation at the conclusion of the explanation.

The rejection of his appointment takes place days after Governor Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia rescinded the appointment of Elba Aponte Santos to head the bureau, after that body’s nomination committee recommended on Saturday not to approve the official for the position.

Once the senatorial president, the senatorial president, appointed his appointment as the interim chief of the bureau Jose Luis Dalmau Santiago, assured that, at the disposal of Articles 172 and 173 of the Political Code, the appointment for an internship at an agency must pass the approval of the Senate.

The adoption of the measure, spoken out loud, was attended by the delegation of the Popular Democratic Party (PPD), the Movimiento Victoria Ciudadana Party (MVC) and the Senator of the Puerto Rican Independence Party (PIP), María de Lourdes Santiago Negrón.

“In the Ministry of Education, there are a large number of professionals … of so many people with experience, with a doctorate and licensed director, the governor has not identified any source that meets the basic requirements claimed by the country’s school community. Dalmau Santiago said during his round of debates.

“We recommend that the governor identify an education professional who has the credentials,” he added.

Meanwhile, the New Progressive Party (PNP) delegation approved the nomination.
