Senate has 11 COVID-19 positive employees

Since the return of Easter, eleven employees of the Senate of Puerto Rico have tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus.

The information was confirmed to Metro Puerto Rico by the upper house press service, which indicated they will test all employees tomorrow.

These cases arise after the four reported last week, including Senator Rosamar Trujillo, two employees of the Sergeant at Arms and one from the Energy Commission chaired by Senator Javier Aponte Dalmau.

As indicated, the additional cases were positive after the end of the holiday for the known longest week, a week and a half ago.

Tomorrow, in Luis A. Ferrer’s parking lot, all senate officials will be tested in this situation.

Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases, the government of Puerto Rico has amended its executive order to impose a curfew at 10 p.m. and the closure of businesses and establishments at 9 p.m. not limited. In addition, schools were closed and the virtual return to the education system ordered, a decision criticized by a group of mothers and fathers who demonstrated in front of La Fortaleza last Saturday.

Currently in Puerto Rico there are 103,957 confirmed cases of the virus, 2,162 deaths and 406 hospitalizations of the 21 are minors and 385 are adults.
