San Antonio International Airport will be locked after shooting, SAPD says

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Police say San Antonio International Airport was closed on Thursday after a shooting involving a police officer.

Police said the shooting took place at 9800 Airport Boulevard. It is unclear who, if anyone was shot, but police said there was no active threat to the public.

An airport spokesman said that an “active gunman” had been reported at the airport around 2:30 pm

Police said the situation was ‘under control’ and no other suspect was sought for this incident.

Two people were taken to hospital for injuries sustained while running from the area during the gunfire.

Earlier on Thursday, a gunman opened fire from an overpass off Highway 281 and Loop 1604. No one was injured, but police said the gunman was still running free. It is unclear whether these incidents are related.
