Red Dead Online Leak may reveal major update for 2021

A new Red Dead Online leak is making the rounds, potentially revealing what’s coming to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC game later this year. Since it was released Red Dead Online in Beta a month later Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games has been slow to support it, especially when compared to GTA Online, which is clearly prioritized due to its larger player base. However, it looks like Rockstar might be cooking up some big stuff for the online western.

Silentc0re reports on YouTube of some new files added to the game with the recent update. Of course, this in itself is not remarkable or exciting, but the contents of these files have the players talking. First, brand new files for various steerable boats were found in the files.

Meanwhile, there have been files ranging from new to freshly updated that indicate bank robberies coming to the game, including files of money bond assets, jewelry boxes, safes, lockers. Bank robberies are, of course, something players have been begging for since launch, and it’s something you’d think Rockstar Games will eventually add to, especially given the popular robbery in GTA Online.

Finally, there are files that seem to indicate that Rockstar Games has done work with Guarma, the island from the game’s campaign. At the moment, it is speculated that a Legendary Bounty could bring players back to the island, much like the Cayo Perico update takes players to an island linked only to the mission.

That said, there is some disagreement about the leak at this point, with some suggesting that these files have been in the game since before launch, which in turn suggests that they are nothing more than just clipped content. However, this wouldn’t explain why Rockstar Games updates them.

Now take everything here with a grain of salt. While data mining leaks are typically quite reliable, they can routinely generate false conclusions and misconceptions.

At the time of publication, Rockstar Games has not commented on this leak in any capacity, nor has it revealed what it has in store for the game this year. If any of these things change, we’ll be sure to update the story. In the meantime, for more coverage on all things Red Dead Redemption 2, click here.
