Rainbow Six Quarantine Ostensibly renamed by Ubisoft

Over the past year, many have pointed out that Ubisoft’s upcoming release of Rainbow Six Quarantine has become a rather ironic title, given the number of people around the world have been quarantined due to the pandemic. Well, for some reason Ubisoft doesn’t seem to have gotten all that keen on that name now and apparently will change pretty soon.

In a new leak that occurred on PlayStation Store, Ubisoft released a new pre-launch patch for Rainbow Six Quarantine that seemingly changes the name completely. Moving forward, Quarantine has been deleted with the new name Rainbow Six ParasiteDigging further, this update also found new graphics featuring the game’s main artwork and a new logo.

While a name changes to Parasite is quite interesting in itself, what’s even more interesting is that Ubisoft is even releasing a pre-release update like this one. Although we should not jump to conclusions, the fact that Ubisoft is even preparing a “first launch patch” Rainbow Six Parasite seems to tell us we can learn a lot more about the game soon.

At the moment there is a release date for it Parasite is not given by Ubisoft, but the publisher recently gave us a better window to expect it. As mentioned in a recent earnings call, Ubisoft said the game will release sometime before the end of the second quarter of the upcoming fiscal year. This means it will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC by the end of September.

Assuming this name changes to Rainbow Six Parasite official, we should get confirmation from Ubisoft shortly. If this does happen, we will update you here with our coverage center for the game.

So how do you feel about it Rainbow Six Parasite as a name? Would you rather Quarantine instead? Make sure to let me know what you think, in the comments or on Twitter at @ Jeroen1988
