Police Investigate Murder of Pregnant Woman in West Houston

HOUSTON – According to Houston police, a 22-year-old pregnant woman was killed after a shooting in western Houston.

HPD said a report of a shooting near Wilcrest and Richmond Ave came in at 12:37 PM.

“We’re not sure it’s a disagreement as to what happened, but there was a report that the individuals may have been in contact prior to the shooting,” said Brian Evans of the Houston Homicide Division.

Officials said the suspect followed the victim and shot the car. The bullet went through the rear of the vehicle and into the back of the victim.

“I don’t think he’s aware that he hit anyone in the car,” Evans said.

Police said the victim was pregnant. She and the baby died on the spot.

‘We understand, (there) was an HPD officer here. They even spotted the vehicle behind it. So they were actually here, I believe. They returned to the station when they heard the shooting. They approach the vehicle to judge her that she responded in the vehicle, but as soon as a transport came over her from the vehicle to the sidewalk, there was no reaction that she had been declared dead there. “

KPRC 2 spoke to Loretta Romo, who said it was the victim’s grandmother.

She was sweet. There are no words to explain to her because she is always smiling. She loved life, she just started to enjoy it. She started to become independent, ”said Romo.

Police said there were three other people in the car, including the victim’s friend, a small child, and someone else. Police say the small child was the victim’s 1-year-old son.

Police said they don’t call the shooting a road rage incident. They also said that the victim and the suspect did not know each other.

Police said they are starting the process to remove surveillance cameras from the area.

Police said the suspect had fled the scene in a dark-colored two-door compartment.
