The pursuit of a narcolancha ended with the seizure of $ 12 million worth of drugs, the death of one of his occupants and the capture of another.

Authorities say the drug seized is 500 kilograms, worth $ 12.5 million (figures may vary).

“On Tuesday, we began an investigation that hit the drug trade in the region hard: 500kg of cocaine worth $ 12.5 million, a 22-year-old Guatemalan captured and a dead” generated in a shooting “when the criminals tried to flee, ”said prosecutor Raúl Melara via Twitter.

The seizure was carried out by the Maritime Response Operational Tactical Section (STORM) of the police.

The prosecution of the narcolancha began at dawn in the Gulf of Fonseca, and near Jiquilisco Bay, alleged traffickers shot at police, Fernando Martínez Amaya died in the shooting, while Francisco Eduardo Martínez, 22, was captured. They are both Guatemalan.

The boat was transferred to the mouth of the Jaltepeque, in the department of La Paz, where the prosecutor’s office has conducted the investigation.

This is the first recorded drug seizure by boat this year, in 2020 there were not many seizures compared to previous years.

According to police records, they seized 2,933.5 kilograms of various types of drugs between January and December 2020, worth $ 48,530,908.03.

The largest seizure in the current administration is one recorded last October, which authorities say amounted to 1.2 tons of cocaine, estimated at $ 30 million.

One of the seizures (820 kilos) was in a truck that had crossed the border of El Amatillo, in La Unión; the other load found was 320 pounds in a truck on the highway in the Zacatecoluca area, in La Paz.
