Square Enix announced earlier this week that more than 5,000 Final Fantasy XIV players were banned after being caught using or promoting real money in the game.

Meanwhile, another 814 players were banned for simply promoting real money trading.

Even advertising or just to attempt using real money is bad enough that Square Enix will bring down the banhammer. These bans all took place between February 25 and March 3.

This isn’t the first time Square has revealed Enix a massive wave of account bans. Back in 2019 the publisher banned more than 10,000 players for it similar violations of real money trading.
