Baby Archie will soon be a big brother. Meghan and Harry are expecting their second child, a spokesman for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed to CBS News on Sunday.
The couple are “overjoyed to be expecting their second child,” the spokesperson added.
Buckingham Palace said in a statement to CBS News that Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and the whole family are “delighted” by the news of the new baby.
Photographer and boyfriend, Misan Harriman, remotely captured a sweet image of the duo, which appears to show a pregnant Meghan, and shared it on social media on SundayIn the black and white photo the couple is sitting in the grass under a tree.
“Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness the beginning of this love story, and my friend, I am honored to record it,” Harriman wrote. “Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on this joyful news!”
The news comes just months after Meghan revealed that she had miscarried in July 2020. In a piece for The New York Times, she describes the deep grief and loss she and Harry experienced
In the work she wrote that she felt a sharp cramp and fell to the floor immediately after changing Archie’s diaper. “I knew while holding my firstborn that I was losing my second,” she said.
Meghan described the “excruciating grief” of a miscarriage with a child, writing that it was a topic that “remained taboo, full of (unfounded) shame, and perpetuated a cycle of lonely grief.”
The couple married in 2018 and had few Archie in May of the following year.
The couple announced they were step down from their ‘higher’ royal roles in early 2020, a decision that shocked the British establishment. The move came after reports that Meghan was very unhappy with life within the royal family and tired of the constant burglary in the mediaThe pair have since relocated to the United States as well now live in California
While they may no longer be royals, the couple have certainly kept it busy. They completed one multi-year deal with Spotify in December to host and produce “uplifting” audio projects and podcasts. They also signed a deal with Netflix to make children’s shows, documentaries, feature films and script shows.
