Marvel Studios developed Hawkeye as a solo film before it was a Disney + series

There was once a time when Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) would get his own movie franchise, or at least his own solo movie. Now that Disney + has come to fruition, that movie has now been turned into a full-length television series with a hefty movie budget. The Hawkeye film report comes out THR, suggesting that Marvel Studios originally made the movie long before Disney + was revealed.

The latest news confirms a year-old report that Kevin Feige and his team were looking for ways to pay more attention to others Avengers characters who had yet to get their own franchise.

The Hawkeye The Disney + show began production shortly after Thanksgiving and continues on soundstages in and around Atlanta. Right at the height of the holidays, Renner himself teased the Christmas season of the series.

“Thanks NYC for some Christmas memories,” de Hawkeye star shared on his Instagram page in December.

Despite being relegated to Disney + from theaters, Marvel Studios treats its television shows the same way it does theatrical releases.

“We treat our shows as if we were making our movies,” Hawkeye producer Trinh Tran previously told ComicBook.com about the production value behind Disney + shows. “I mean, the feel and quality of those TV shows are going to be like the Marvel movies you’ve seen. So it always has been. [Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige]Let’s make sure that when people start watching these episodes it feels like it’s just one full-length movie, except instead of two and a half hours it’s going to be a lot longer. And the idea behind certain characters getting their shows is that we have a lot more time to develop these characters than the shorter ones. “

Hawkeye will be released later this year.
