As social media users discussed the controversy surrounding Carlson’s comments, the official II Marine Expeditionary Force account tweeted in response to one commenter, “Check back if you have served and are pregnant,” said USA Today.

The tweet has since been deleted, along with another defensive American Master Gunnery Sgt. Scott Stalker, who denounced Carlson’s comments.

“We’re humans and we’ve screwed up,” the unit posted. “We intended to stand up for women Marines and it was an effort to support them. They are a vital part of our force and we need them to know that. We adjust the fire and ensure the utmost professionalism in our tweets. ”

“We have strayed from our brand and realize it,” it added in a follow-up tweet. “Our standard practices are effective and you can count on us to correct our mistake in the future.”

Carlson faced backlash from several military leaders after suppressing the Department of Defense last week for their new efforts to accommodate women in the military, including maternity fly suits and allowing more hairstyles under official grooming standards.

So we have new hairstyles and maternity flight suits. Pregnant women are going to fight our wars. It’s a mockery of the US military, ”said Carlson on his prime-time show.

The Fox News presenter later responded to the criticism by shouting “awake generals.”

‘We were almost upset. Then we realized that if the awakened generals treat us the way they have treated the Taliban, we will be fine. Twenty years later, the Taliban are still there, ”Carlson said Friday.
