SAN ANTONIO While the snow has come and gone, winter conditions in the San Antonio region continue to pose unforeseen dangers as temperatures remain below freezing.
Homes, businesses, and at least one local hospital combat fluctuating power outages and limited water supplies.
The San Antonio Water System is already responding to several calls, and some are being dequeued due to call volume, SAWS officials said.
Anne Hayden, of SAWS, said Texas infrastructure is currently under pressure and customers should remain patient as there isn’t just one solution to the problem. The water problems are likely due to electricity affecting water pumps or frozen pipes, Hayden said.
“What we see in San Antonio is the intermittent power supply, in the sense that our pumps cannot operate without power. Water is going out and we have no water in the tanks to top up the pressure, ”said Hayden.

If your pipes are frozen, go to your meter and turn off your water. Hayden said that if the temperature rises again, be aware that the frozen pipes could break or split, causing major damage in your home.
If your pipes aren’t frozen, there are a few things you can do to prevent that. Read more about it here.
