SAN ANTONIO – Mayor Ron Nirenberg of San Antonio and Justin Rodriguez, Commissioner of Bexar County, briefed the community on the local response to COVID-19 in their daily briefing Thursday evening.
Nirenberg reported 194,736 total COVID-19 cases and 2,514 total deaths in Bexar County, an increase of 404 new cases as of Thursday. Four new deaths have been reported today.
The 7-day moving average will be reported during Monday’s briefing as there was not enough data this week due to a lack of testing due to last week’s winter storm.
City officials also reported that 494 patients have been hospitalized, 194 in intensive care, and 111 on ventilator. 8% of the manned beds are available and 64% of the fans.
Nirenberg said 3,510 COVID-19 vaccines were administered at the Alamodome on Thursday. He said the city and county are asking for more doses because they have the capacity to vaccinate more people.
