Leaders report 171 new COVID-19 cases, 6 deaths

SAN ANTONIO – Mayor Ron Nirenberg of San Antonio and Judge Nelson Wolff of Bexar County informed the community in their daily briefing Tuesday evening about the local response to COVID-19.

Nirenberg reported 198,969 total COVID-19 cases and 2,853 total deaths in Bexar County, up from 171 new cases as of Tuesday. Six new deaths have been reported today.

The 7-day moving average is 186.

City officials also reported that 262 patients have been hospitalized, 120 in intensive care and 76 on ventilators. 12% of the manned beds are available and 64% of the fans. There were 41 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours.

Nirenberg said the total number of hospital admissions is the lowest since November.

The risk level in school is now “low”.

Nirenberg said more than 295,000 people have received their first dose and more than 174,000 people have been fully vaccinated in the area.
