HEB launches registration portal for COVID-19 vaccines, but still waiting for more doses

SAN ANTONIO – HEB has launched a registration portal on its website for people who want to get the COVID-19 vaccine, but slots are not available as pharmacies are still waiting for more vaccine doses.

Registration will be made available once HEB receives more allocations of the vaccine.

HEB currently has no more COVID-19 vaccines, but the Texas grocer has filed for more.

“As soon as we have the vaccine, customers can make an appointment at that location. We do not have a vaccine reallocation at this time, ”spokesman Dya Campos told KSAT.

All previous vaccination assignments given to HEB have been administered to eligible customers in Phase 1A, including health professionals, nursing home workers and residents of long-term care facilities, as well as customers in Phase 1B, including people 65 and older, and people. website of 18 years and older with at least one chronic illness.

RES has yet to accept appointments for eligible customers in Phase 1C, including key frontline workers and Phase 2, including the general public.

Pharmacies still will not accept walk-ins once HEB receives more allocations of the COVID-19 vaccine due to the vaccine’s fragile shelf life, requiring it to be used within hours of opening a new vial, according to HEB officials. Each vial of Covid-19 vaccine has 10 doses.

All vaccines previously assigned to HEB have been administered. Campos told KSAT in early January that “once the stock becomes more readily available, we will be ready to help vaccinate our communities on a large scale.”

HEB has applied for more COVID-19 vaccines from the state of Texas, and there is no charge to receive a COVID-19 vaccine from the grocery store.
