GTA Online players have discovered a shocking connection between the new Cayo Perico Update and Red Dead Redemption. Rockstar Games is known for teasing and connecting its games. For example in Red Dead Redemption 2, There are a few Bully Easter eggs. Meanwhile, there is growing evidence GTA and Red Dead Redemption share the same universe. And a new discovery only supports these theories. On Twitter, a player shared that the new GTA Online update links el Rubio to German family players who are in Red Dead Redemption 2.

In Red Dead Redemption 2players such as Arthur Morgan, a German immigrant, Andreas, and his family, consisting of his wife and their two young children, can help and rescue. In the grand scheme of RDR2the family has little or no meaning other than an opportunity for Arthur Morgan to raise his good cowboy score.

That said, it appears that Juan Strickler, aka El Rubio, the antagonist of the new Cayo Perico Heist, is from this family. In his mansion hangs a photo of a family that looks exactly like the German family players RDR2. And, as you may know, during the heist, El Rubio refers to his “Grandpa”, which is grandfather in German.

Now, could this just be an Easter egg? Sure, but it’s also another example of the two games seemingly part of the same universe. Rockstar Games has yet to comment on, let alone confirm, these theories, but discoveries like these make the theories hard to ignore, to say the least.

Take this discovery, or more specifically, the speculation that created it, with a grain of salt for now. While there is little to no room to deny the discovery, the implications are a little less concrete. It’s highly unlikely that Rockstar Games will set the record straight with any comment or statement, but if it does, we’ll be sure to update the story with whatever is on offer.
