Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi says the latest project could be his last

A few weeks ago we heard how the Japanese video game composer Nobuo Uematsu – who has worked the most Final Fantasy games in some capacity and other RPG hits such as Chrono Trigger – might call it a day due to health issues

Now, in a minor update, Final Fantasy creator and veteran designer, Hironobu Sakaguchi, has explained how the exclusive Apple Arcade, Fantasian, could possibly also be his last project. This is exactly what he had to say during a conversation with VGC:

“I think it is certainly possible that this could be my last project and that was kind of in the back of my mind when we developed it.”

In saying this, the 58-year-old remains open to the idea of continuing to run his business (Mistwalker), but says he probably needs at least a vacation:

“To be honest, I haven’t thought much about the next steps for the company or where we want to go, and I think I can use some vacation time between now and whatever we’re going to do. So we’ll see what happens , that remains to be seen. “

Sakaguchi was responsible for the first five episodes of the Final Fantasy series and continued to oversee the series as a writer and producer. He founded Mistwalker in 2004 and went on to create titles such as Blue dragon The last story, and now Fantasian.

While there has been no mention (at least yet) of Fantasian coming to the Switch, the trailer – featuring handcrafted dioramas – is still worth checking out.
