Fernando Colunga will no longer be part of the new original Telemundo series.
In early 2020, Telemundo Global Studios announced with much fanfare that Fernando Colunga would be the lead actor of the television series “Malverde: El Santo Patrón” which will premiere in 2021. However, the actor recently decided not to be part of the project of the major Spanish-language television network in the United States.
According to information reviewed by La Opinion, Colunga is said to have resigned from Telemundo’s dramatic production because he disagreed with many aspects related to the story and the character he would play.
The Mexican actor, for his part, has not issued a press release to comment on his departure from the original Telemundo series scheduled to hit the small screen in 2021.
Through a press release, the Spanish-language television network confirmed that Colunga will no longer be part of the project: “Telemundo has made a creative decision to collaborate with Fernando Colunga on other future projects, so he will not be part of the star cast. from ‘Malverde’. We are delighted that Fernando is part of the Telemundo family and by the end of this year we are already developing two new projects together ”.
The shooting of “Malverde: El Santo Patron” is scheduled for release in Mexico soon, so Telemundo would already have a replacement after Fernando Colunga’s abrupt departure from the project. According to La Opinion, the production will be announcing the official cast of the series in the coming days.
Telemundo’s new original series will focus on the story of Jesús Malverde, “a boy born in 1870 in Sinaloa, who will become a legendary figure, almost religious, defender of the people, protector of the innocent as well as the poor and dispossessed. . of drug traffickers and criminals “.
