Epic Games to transform Cary Towne Center into new headquarters by 2024

CARY, NC (WTVD) – ‘Fortnite’ creator and game publisher Epic Games continues to make big strides in the town of Cary.

The company announced on Sunday that it has reached a deal with Turnbridge Equities and Denali Properties to acquire the 980,000-square-foot, 87-acre Cary Towne Center. The ultimate goal is to transform the mall into the new Epic Games campus by 2024.

“The facilities will include office buildings as well as recreation areas, giving Epic the flexibility to create a campus adapted to long-term growth from the start,” wrote a company spokesman.

Epic Games has been a household name in Cary for over 20 years and is currently located on Crossroads Boulevard, just off Dillard Drive. The company plans to operate from that location until the transition is complete.

Turnbridge and Denali purchased the Cary Towne Center shopping mall in January 2019, according to an Epic Games spokesperson.

“We are extremely proud that Epic has chosen to call Cary home for their new global headquarters, and we appreciate the company’s recognition of Cary’s existing assets and the area’s unlimited potential for their growing business,” said Mayor Harold van Cary. Weinbrecht. “We look forward to continuing to work closely and collaboratively with the Epic team as they conceptualize their new campus, and are honored to work with them on this exciting new development.”

Epic plans to continue to work on the development with the City of Cary, Turnbridge and Denali.

Jason Davis, the Managing Director of Turnbridge Equities, said: “After years of shifting development plans for the Center, we are delighted that the space will be fully utilized and transformed into something that the city and community of Cary can be proud of . ”
