Enormous fire breaks out in San Antonio apartment building

Thursday afternoon, a huge fire broke out in an apartment complex in San Antonio.

The fire started at the Bexar County complex around 1:00 p.m., KSTAT reported.

Residents remembered being warned to turn off their water heater, and the fire broke out on the second floor moments later, firefighters said.

About 50 residents were evacuated from the building.

Firefighters had to usher in water to extinguish the flames, according to WOAI-TV, because a nearby fire hydrant was frozen.

Videos and photos on social media shows billowing black smoke into the air as firefighters edit the scene.

No injuries have been reported. Officials continue to investigate what caused the fire.
