One of the most anticipated new studio albums of recent times has another problem.

Canadian superstar Drake has decided to postpone the release of – Certified Lover Boy – for the second time; this time, the delay was due to a number of personal reasons, including a serious knee injury and subsequent surgery.

The rapper and singer had originally set his sights on a summer 2020 release and then a January 2021 release, ahead of this latest setback.

‘I was planning on releasing my album this month, but between surgery and rehab my energy went to recovery,’ Drake (née Aubrey Drake Graham) shared in a post on his Instagram story on Wednesday, January 20.

‘I’m blessed to be back on my feet and feeling good and focused on the album, but CLB won’t fall in January.’

He ended the message by adding, “I’m looking forward to sharing it with you in 2021.”

At this point, Drake hasn’t given fans an exact date when they can expect Certified Love Boy to be released.

Drake, who became the first musical artist to cross more than 50 billion combined streams on Spotify this month, gave fans a taste of what to expect when he dropped – Laugh Now Cry Later with Lil Durk – in August last year.

As he continued his work in the recording studio, all the built-up momentum came to a halt when Drake injured his knee in late October.

After surgery, the four-time Grammy winner posted a clip to his Insta-Story with his leg in a brace and a message referring to the tumultuous year 2020.

‘I actually want to use this message to send love and motivation to someone else who will be released in 2020,’ he wrote next to the image, which didn’t include a look on his face.

“Start writing the best bounce back story NOW.”

Showing that he was really recovering, Drake took to social media last week, giving his 74.6 million Instagram fans and followers an update on his recovery.

“ 10 weeks after surgery, I’m grinding for recovery EVERY DAY, ” wrote the Find Your Love star, 34, in a video of himself training himself with weights at a gym.

The Toronto native could be seen doing squat exercises on a small exercise bench while holding a significant weight with his hands, trying to strengthen that rebuilt right knee.

With over 170 million records sold, Drake is considered one of the best-selling music artists of his generation and beyond.
