Drake and Paul Rudd join Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers in State Farm’s Super Bowl LV ad

He is not afraid of making a fool of himself, even in his own music videos.

And Drake continued to play the good sport when he made a surprise appearance in State Farm Insurance’s Super Bowl LV ad on Sunday.

The 34-year-old rap superstar joined Paul Rudd, 51, as stand-ins in a meta-commercial that also featured Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Play Itself: Drake, 34, was a good sport in a State Farm ad that aired on Super Bowl Sunday, in which he played a stand-in for an insurance ad

The ad opened with Rodgers, 37, and Mahomes, 25, sitting in a movie studio before filming their State Farm ad.

“Hey Rodgers, I’m you!” shouts the actor who replaces the quarterback who looks nothing like him and wears an ostentatious cheese hat.

“Couldn’t you find a stand-in that looked like me?” Rodgers asks Jake from State Farm (played by Kevin Miles).

“Have you seen mine?” Mahomes asks before gesturing to Rudd, who is wearing the same bolt of lightning and holding a soccer ball.

I didn’t buy it: “You couldn’t find a stand-in that looked like me?” Rodgers Asks Jake from State Farm (played by Kevin Miles)

“It’s like looking in a mirror, right?” he says, before accidentally throwing the ball behind himself.

“Now that makes sense,” Rodgers teases the younger quarterback, who was on the field when the ad aired.

But State Farm’s Jake complains that he doesn’t even have a stand-in.

‘Of course you do’, it sounds in a figure grabbing some snacks at the table with handicraft services.

A little better: “Have you seen mine?” Asks Mahomes before gesturing to Paul Rudd, wearing the same lightning bolt shirt and holding a football

Oops! “It’s like looking in a mirror, right?” he jokes, before accidentally throwing the ball behind himself

Surprising Appearance: But Drake appears as Jake from the State Farm stand-in. “That’s right, Drake from State Farm,” he says with a straight face

Mahomes asks incredulously if Jake is from State Farm’s replacement Drake.

“That’s right, Drake from State Farm,” he says with a straight face.

Drake and the spokesman stand side by side in their red shirts and begin to recite the brand’s slogan, but Jake from State Farm stops him halfway through.

“Hey, stand-ins don’t have rules,” he tells the Hotline Bling rapper, crunching an apple as he says the slogan.

Although Drake is now best known for his music career, he first gained fame on the Canadian high school series Degrassi, where he played Jimmy Brooks.

His character was initially a basketball star before becoming paralyzed in a school shooting.

Sunday’s ad in the game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs aired shortly after Rodgers revealed he was engaged.

On Saturday, when he accepted the 2020 NFL Most Valuable Player award through a speech on YouTube, he briefly mentioned that he was engaged and thanked his “ fiancé, ” who he didn’t mention.

However, E! News reported just days earlier that the football star was dating Big Little Lies’ 29-year-old Shailene Woodley.

While he didn’t mention the actress in his acceptance speech, he did thank Jodie Foster, who co-stars with Woodley in her upcoming movie The Mauritanian.

“They’ve kept things private and quiet,” said a source, adding that the couple’s relationship was “ long distance. ”
