The Colombian Armed Forces FFMM), through his The National Army BOW) Y Air Force TO DO), conducted the first joint air-sea exercises conducted in the current 2021. They have been developed in the waters of the archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina, in the Caribbean Sea, to increase joint operational capabilities.

These maneuvers are intended to warn Nicaragua of Colombia’s steadfast willingness to defend its sovereignty over the region. National Assembly of Nicaragua created the so-called Nicaraguan Caribbean Biosphere Reserve, that includes marine and undersea spaces that Colombia considers to be its property.

Military deployment

During the air-sea exercises the FAC deployed a crew consisting of three aircraft of the type IAI Kfir C10 / 12 COA THAT), while the ARC participated with two light frigates of the Admiral Padilla class, performing live fire maneuvers during the development of the operation.

Moreover, it is Naval Aviation had an airplane of the type Airbus HOUSE CN-235-200 Persuader, to strengthen patrols in Colombian jurisdictional waters, detect possible incursions by Nicaraguan ships into the archipelago, while also strengthening the strength of the Marine infantry stationed on the islands, islets and keys that transport these troops in one Amphibious landing ship BDA / BAL-C

The durability of these air-naval resources on the islands will be by the time the Department of Defense deems it necessary.
