Check out Guilty Gear Strive newcomer Nagoriyuki in today’s Starter Guide

Two words: Vampire. Samurai.

Something different in the present day Guilty Gear Pursue Starter Guide, as Arc System Works finally opens the curtain to one of the all-new characters from the upcoming fighters. Stoic, scary, just as stylish as anyone in it GG history, welcomes the night walker – Nagoriyuki.

I could just write “Vampire Samurai” and leave it at that, but you deserve more. I’ll by noting that Nagoriyuki’s massive stature dominates the battlefield, while his razor-sharp Katana offers him ridiculous range and amazing poke ability. Nagoriyuki’s vampiric tendencies also come into play through his moveset, with a “Blood Gauge” that fills up when he hits his opponent. Once completed, Nagoriyuki can activate a Rage mode, which increases his range and damage at the expense of several special attacks.

Essentially, an efficient Nagoriyuki player will actually become more powerful as the fight progresses, but he will also play more risky. This is reminiscent of Killer Instinct’s leech Mira, who also traded health and options for strength during the fight. In addition to this mechanic, Nagoriyuki has the ability to toggle / short teleport, grab a command and advanced combos. Nagoriyuki already looks like an absolute force to be reckoned with, and will certainly make its impact when he debuts this spring.
