Black Ops Cold War Attachment allows players to see through walls

If you have played Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War recently and found yourself murdered in a rather unusual way, there may be a good explanation. Apparently, one of the game’s many attachments now allows players to essentially see through walls and get a hefty edge over the competition.

Spotted by u / AvHsA on Reddit, when you equip the Tiger Team Spotlight Body attachment to a weapon, you can see the names of enemy players appear while aiming. The attachment doesn’t reveal the exact contours of the opponents, but if you can see their in-game name, well that’s good enough to make them drop. Obviously, it’s a big problem and it’s something Treyarch should probably fix sooner rather than later.

It’s worth noting that at the time of writing, it’s unclear how consistent this bug is across the board Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. This trick was discovered on one of the game’s newer maps, Express, but it’s unclear if it’s an issue in all locations. In addition, it is not really known if the same bug is present with the Tiger Team Spotlight attachment when equipped with all weapons, or if it only causes this problem with selected weapons.

At the time of writing, Treyarch hasn’t said anything about the bug and may not even be aware of its existence. It doesn’t seem like much either Black Ops Cold War players have even noticed it until recently. That said, the longer it has been in the game, the more players will learn about it and are likely to benefit from it. As such, Treyarch really needs to get to grips with this or risk the meta of this Black Ops Cold War for the foreseeable future.

If we hear anything new about the studio’s plans to change this bug, we’ll be sure to let you know in the future. Until then you can play Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S and PC.
