According to reports, a teenage mother in the UK left her baby while she went to party across the country for a week.
Verphy Kudi’s daughter, Asiah, was only 20 months old. An autopsy showed she died of starvation, dehydration and the flu, a report said.
Kudi, from Brighton, had traveled 150 miles to celebrate her 18th birthday when she left the child, who died alone in December 2019.
Kudi confessed to manslaughter in a British court this week.
The tragedy has led to “a serious review of the case” by local and national officials, according to news media.
Kudi once tweeted about her desire to become a Pretty Little Things model. The day she got home to her daughter, she’d posted to Twitter trying to sell three tickets to a Lil Durk concert that day.
Kudi’s sister, in a YouTube video in October posted months before the young mother’s guilty plea, denied any knowledge that the baby had been left alone.
“No one in my family knew about that headline,” the sister said, referring to local reports. “I pray that my cousin gets the justice she deserves.”
