Street Fighter V’s Dan Hibiki turns T-bagging into taunting

Never lost a word

The legend has returned. Today sees the arrival of the Master of Saikyo style, Dan Hibiki, who returns to the street fighter franchise as the first character from SFV‘s fifth and final season of content. Capcom has released a launch trailer to remind the world, as if the world needed a memory, of Hibiki’s incredible fighting skills.

In related news, SFV players who have been lucky enough to get into the ring with Dan will already find some interesting secrets. As noted by @discovigilante, it appears that Hibiki-san is bringing his love of taunting back to the ring like never before and will fire a pose and verbal bragging when a player repeatedly taps on his crouch – conveniently the disrespectful “T-Bag” maneuver. It seems that, in true Saikyo style, confident Dan players will probably never get STFU, but honestly, Hibiki wouldn’t want it any other way.

In addition to Dan’s arrival, Season 5 will add a new balance update, as well as the addition of the all-new “V-Shift” mechanic. At the expense of a V-meter bar, fighters can now perform an invincible backdash, useful for relieving pressure on block strings or provoking an opponent’s special. This new technique should provide slightly more defensive options, something that has always been missing from the attacking heavy fighter.

Season V will continue into 2021 and will add DLC characters Rose, Oro, Rival schoolsAkira, and a fifth character whose identity has yet to be revealed. Also joining the roster comes the weird shape-shifting blob known as Eleven, which shows the look and moveset of any SFV character for each round, testing the capabilities of each round Street Fighter V. expert.
