Leaders report 1,260 new COVID-19 cases, 15 deaths

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff briefed the community on the local response to COVID-19 Tuesday evening in their daily briefing.

Nirenberg reported 176,790 total COVID-19 cases and 2,167 total deaths in Bexar County, an increase of 1,260 new cases as of Monday. Fifteen new deaths were also reported today.

The 7-day moving average of cases is 1,510.

City officials also reported that 1,176 patients have been hospitalized, 399 in intensive care and 232 on ventilator. 10% of the manned beds are available and 48% of the fans.

Nirenberg also provided an update on a pilot program to vaccinate San Antonio’s most vulnerable seniors. Nirenberg said that as of Tuesday night, 380 homebound seniors have now received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
