SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff briefed the community on the local response to COVID-19 in their daily Sunday evening briefing.
Nirenberg reported a total of 160,026 COVID-19 cases and 1,967 total deaths in Bexar County, an increase of 289 new cases as of Sunday. Sixteen new deaths have been reported today.
The case numbers for today were significantly lower than in recent weeks; However, Nirenberg said this is likely due to a delay in receiving test results from the state.
City officials also reported that 1,381 patients have been hospitalized, 407 in intensive care and 251 on ventilators. 14% of the manned beds are available and 52% of the fans.
There were 138 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours, Nirenberg said.
