Kyrie Irving saw Tanahie Aboushie’s talk before Nets gave a tip

Rather than playing for the Nets on Tuesday night, Brooklyn star Kyrie Irving took part in a video call launch party for Manhattan Democratic district attorney Tahanie Aboushi.

Aboushi tweeted an image of the Zoom gathering, and Irving – who has been away from the Nets since last week – was among more than 200 volunteers and supporters who took part.

The meeting, co-hosted by actress Cynthia Nixon, started at 7 p.m. – about 40 minutes before the Nets tipped the Denver Nuggets at the Barclays Center.

Irving, 28, has missed four consecutive games, including his team’s 122-116 victory on Tuesday.

The point guard’s absence is believed to be because he is upset about the riot in the Capitol.

Irving hasn’t spoken in public since the uprising, but on Monday night a video surfaced showing him partying seemingly maskless while celebrating his sister’s birthday.

The video was undated.

Sean Marks, Nets chief executive officer, said in a statement that the organization was aware of the video and “was reviewing conditions with both Kyrie and the NBA to determine compliance with health and safety protocols.”

The NBA’s COVID-19 protocols prohibit players from attending bars, lounges, or clubs, or social gatherings with more than 15 people.

Irving is in the second season of a $ 136 million four-year deal.
