Georgia voter purge overturned by judge after 4,000 people falsely disembodied in run-up to run-off election

More than 4,000 people in two counties in Georgia were falsely removed from the electoral roll ahead of next week’s Senate elections, a federal judge has ruled. In her decision, Judge Leslie Abrams Gardner said the counties had used unverified change of address data to invalidate registrations – and that all those removed from the voter rolls should be restored. The vast majority of those filings came from Muscogee County, which, according to Politico, leaned heavily towards President-elect Joe Biden in November. Several hundred were from Ben Hill County, which President Trump brought with him last month. Democratic Party attorney Marc Elias hailed the judge’s decision as a “blow to the repression of GOP voters.” Judge Gardner is the sister of top Democrat Stacey Abrams, whose efforts for voter registration in Georgia have been widely credited with winning the state for Biden.
