12-year-old boy dies in ski accident in Canada

According to officials and a local report, a 12-year-old boy died in a freak skiing accident in Canada over the weekend.

The pre-teen was skiing Mt. Seymour in North Vancouver, British Columbia, around 8 p.m. Saturday, when he was seriously injured, police said.

In a statement to the CBC, a resort spokesperson said the child hit a tree.

He was rushed to BC Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“Everyone at Mt. Seymour expresses our deepest condolences and condolences to family and friends for this tragic loss, ”said the resort’s statement.

Police say the British coroner’s office is conducting an investigation.

No further information has been released.

The family-run ski area is located about 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver and features over 197 acres of ski terrain.
