Zynga acquires Echtra Games with plans for more cross-platform gaming

Announced Wednesday morning that it has acquired Echtra Games, which will allow the company to develop a role-playing game (RPG) that can be played on a variety of platforms. “This acquisition will play a significant role in the growth of our iconic licenses and brands from mobile to PCs and consoles, while helping to further expand Zynga’s total addressable market,” said Zynga Chief Executive Frank Gibeau in a press release. The Echtra Games leadership team has experience developing games like “Diablo” and “The Sims 4,” Zynga said in the release. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Zynga shares are up 1.4% on Wednesday in premarket trading. The stock is up 37% in the last three months as the S&P 500 SPX,
