Zooming in on Google Maps shows people ‘committing crime’

Google Maps is an incredibly useful tool, allowing us to plan routes for long journeys, test our geographic knowledge and generally be curious about places.

However, one TikTok user believes they’ve seen people engaged in ‘committing a crime’ while browsing the site recently.

The user, named ‘Content Dropped’, shared a video that appears to show a group in Poland stealing train tracks in broad daylight.

The video explains, “You don’t believe what I just found.

“I thought I’d seen it all.”

The user then zooms in on the map and shows a group of people carrying train tracks in a wheelbarrow on a railroad track.

The video continues, “But they literally steal train tracks.”

It has now been viewed thousands of times, with comments from people sharing their utter disbelief at what appears to be a blatant theft.

One user said, “They need to have an internal connection in the railway company, normally those tracks are welded together.”

While another trusted the group in the photo more, adding, “Maybe they’ll help replace it.”

But this isn’t the first time Google Maps has come across something really strange. Not for a long time.

The pair drove up a remote mountain road in western Taiwan for a patch of nature reserve and presumably thought the Google Maps car was the least of their concerns – but unfortunately, they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The street sighting was first shared on social media, along with the caption, “I looked on Google to see if I would find some animals, and unexpectedly came across this beautiful sight!

“Google Maps is the greatest invention ever – it’s bigger than God. Big Brother is watching. You’re making babies, and now we’re looking at you.”

They made that a bit more sinister than necessary if you ask me, but hey-ho.
