Zidane’s team bus gets stoned upon arrival at Anfield

While the reception was generally quiet at first, with the British police escort, several fans threw stones

The Real Madrid bus was stoned on arrival at Anfield by fans gathering around the stadium to await the arrival of both teams.

The bus van For real, which ended with a broken glass, appeared in one of the streets parallel to Anfield just over an hour and a half before the start of the game.

While the reception was generally quiet, with the British police escort, several fans threw stones at the bus, in addition to flooding the area with torches emitting red smoke.

The Real Madrid bus was the first to appear on one of the avenues, and hundreds of fans, most of them without masks and without respecting the safety distances, sang to the Spanish team and lit some torches.

But the highlight was when a few minutes later, an hour and a half before the start of the game, the red bus of the English appeared.

The red smoke poured down the street, barely making it possible to make out the entrance to the vehicle, well escorted by the police.

Still, the pandemic has prevented much more massive receptions from being repeated, such as those produced in the same scenario leading up to the comeback against Barcelona in 2019 and when Atlético de Madrid brought them together in 2020.

Liverpool, which will try to overcome the 3-1 they bring from a disadvantage from the first leg, were received minutes later, the only incident being the appearance of numerous flares.
