The Euphoria star is getting serious awards for her upcoming Netflix movie Malcolm & Marie – and while promoting the movie The HFPA in conversation podcast, Zendaya opened up her relationship with social media and had complete control over her Instagram account.

Malcolm & Marie also plays John David Washington and was directed by Euphoria Creator Sam Levinson and Netflix describe the film’s premise as: “When filmmaker Malcolm (Washington) and his girlfriend Marie (Zendaya) return home from a movie premiere and wait for his film’s critical reaction, the evening takes a turn as revelations Start talking about their relationships. Zendaya also shared what she learned from when she was more active on social media: “I was a lot more active when I was younger, but over time I think I just – it’s not that I hate it or anything – but I found sometimes if I insisted it would make me a little anxious, otherwise I would think a little too much or be on my phone too much.
“My relationship with everything is mine and it’s personal to me, but it’s also something I like to keep some space with.”

Zendaya further explained that she is not concerned about backlash from fans over her use of social media ‘because they understand that I am human and I think they want me to have a life and want me to be happy and go beyond social media . “
And she also had a message for her fans on social media: “I’m always there. They know I’m there. They know it’s real but it’s important for me to have my own time and not a phone getting sucked. “
