YouTube TV has announced that it is adding several premium features to the service.

When it comes to finding the best over-the-top live TV service for cablecutters, subscription costs are probably the most important issue for most consumers. But functions are just as important. A sports enthusiast may prefer unlimited DVR space, while a family of four may prioritize viewing multiple devices. YouTube TV is expanding its range of features with a newly announced “Add-on option” to stream or save shows in 4K for offline viewing.

Currently, YouTube TV’s basic plan supports six individual user accounts and up to three simultaneous streams. But YouTube says the same 4K add-on also supports “unlimited simultaneous streams at home,” which can be an attractive feature for larger families, or in households with multiple people sharing the cost of the plan.

This is all very exciting, but YouTube is not currently sharing the cost of the package. When Gizmodo came for comment, a spokesperson said only that the benefits would be included in “an optional member add-on.” (For example, Hulu charges $ 10 a month in addition to the monthly subscription fee to support unlimited streams.) The timing is also unclear, and YouTube had nothing more to share when it was approached for comment.

Its features are certainly a welcome addition to an already great cable alternative, but price will be key. YouTube TV’s basic package (without premium content via add-ons like Starz or Showtime) costs $ 65 per month on its own. Those are the same costs as Hulu with live TV, but both get pretty expensive when you rock out with additional entertainment packages and premium features.

Still, the 4K streaming push sounds promising. And especially now that we’re trapped indoors, the best stream possible is worth spending a few extra dollars a month.
