YouTube suspends President Donald Trump’s channel

A recent video on Trump’s channel had incited violence, YouTube told CNN Business. That video has now been removed.

YouTube declined to share details of the video that gave Trump the strike, but said it will revisit the decision after the week-long timeout.

Analysis: Will the platform building cause Trump and the extreme right to disappear, move or radicalize further?
Until now, YouTube was the only remaining major social media platform that Trump had not somehow suspended. Facebook has “indefinitely” suspended Trump’s account, while Twitter has banned Trump completely.
“After careful review and in light of concerns about the ongoing potential of violence, we removed new content uploaded to the Donald J. Trump channel and issued a warning for violation of our incitement to violence policy a YouTube spokesperson said in a statement. “As a result, in line with our long-term strike system, the channel is now unable to upload new videos or live streams for at least seven days, which can be extended.”

YouTube also said it will take the extra step of disabling comments under videos on Trump’s channel.

Under YouTube’s policy, earning a second warning will result in a two-week suspension and three warnings in a permanent ban.
