This is what is happening in the world of television on Tuesday February 16. All times are Eastern.

Top choices

Young Rock (NBC, 8 p.m.) and Kenan (NBC, 8:30 p.m.): NBC adds some fun to the lineup on Tuesday, combining the debut of two sitcoms with the reliably tear-jerking drama of This is us

The first is Young Rock, which was created by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson along with Nahnatchka Khan. The comedy “follows The fluctuates from pebble to wrestler to presidential candidate. (The latter is just in the world of the show, for now.Johnson and Khan have put together a whole team of nice actors to play The Rock at the ages of 10, 15 and 20: Adrian Groulx, Bradley Constant and Uli Latukefu, respectively. This coming-of-age sitcom is a bit more involved than most; the framing device sees Randall Park (as himself, now a journalist) interviewing the presidential hopefully, which will spark all kinds of flashbacks to his dorky, mustachioed adolescence. But with Khan, fresh off Hot off the press, help to lead the way, Young Rock should offer more than just more fashion-based 80s humor. “Watch the rest of our February TV preview here

As regards Kenanfollows this sitcom Saturday Night Live veteran Kenan Thompson, who, as Sam Barsanti describes, “plays a widowed father who hosts a morning talk show, where the stress of his life forces him to reluctantly accept the help of his saxophonist father-in-law (Don Johnson) who is desperate for time. to spend with his granddaughters. SNLChris Redd also comes along as Thompson’s brother, presumably with the same kind of chaotic energy that Thompson played so well in his Nickelodeon days. It’s hard to read the show from this short clip properly, but come on, Kenan Thompson is finally doing another sitcom – and it’s about time. Later this week, check out Saloni Gajjar’s thoughts on this freshman series.

Wild card

Bad habits, holy orders (Hulu, season one): The latest in a string of shows that sound like they stole their premise from one 30 Rock bit, this four-part reality series follows a group of party girls who try life in a nunnery in rural Norfolk, England. It’s not really one Sister Act riff, as these raunchy twenties don’t seem to be hiding from any gangster. But if you expect a simple clash between tense nuns and some libertines, you might be disappointed – both groups remain very sweet in this negotiation for a night out.
