Yesterday Blizzard announced they would remove the 30, 90 and 180 day playtime purchase options from World of Warcraft, leaving only the 60-day option.

“We recently conducted an evaluation of the services available in all currencies. Based on this, we decided to change the Game Time options available in the Blizzard Shop, ”Blizzard wrote in a forum post.

Buying game time was a way for players to experience World of Warcraft without committing to a recurring payment plan. Starting today, players who wish to continue this payment model can only purchase play time in 60 day blocks for USD 29.99.

Wowhead.com speculates the move could be to shift playtime buyers to one of Blizzard’s subscriptions, leading to more money for the company.

Subscription plans and Wow Tokens are unaffected so don’t worry if you’re like me and still paying 14.99 USD monthly.
